Position: Audio-Visual and Communications Technician

Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours/week

The U.S. Mission in Yaounde, Cameroon is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Audio-Visual and Communications Technician.  This position is located in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Basic Function of the Position

Under the direct supervision of the Information Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for all technical aspects for Pubic Diplomacy Programming including Digital Video Conferences, AFNET and acoustical set-ups, and for monitoring, recording, copying and logging all programs received via TVRO. He/She serves as the primary photographer and videographer to create content from Embassy programs that then can be used on the Embassy’s media and social media sites; and serves as the back-up social media manager.

Qualifications Required

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.  Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified. 

Education: Completion of Technical High School (GCE ‘A’ Level or BACC) in electronics or audio-visual equipment maintenance is required.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in electronics/audio-visual equipment use and upkeep or experience in photography/videography is required, in an international organization or a large local institution.

Language: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English and French are required. (This will be tested)

Skills and Abilities: The incumbent must be able to maintain and compile media distribution lists; must be able to operate office machines including computers, printers, photocopiers, and electronic presses; and must have a solid background in electronics and audio-visual equipment and communications systems. (Skills and abilities may be tested.)

Job Knowledge: The incumbent must have basic audio/visual and computer skills (such as but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe) and strong video editing skills as well as proficient skills in using all social media platforms. (Job knowledge may be tested.)
