within the context of Emergency Response to Refugees from Centra Africa Republic Plan Cameroon is urgently seeking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic, humanitarian-oriented and hardworking Cameroonian for six months duration to fulfill the positions below. While funding is only guaranteed for 6 months at the point of advertising, Plan is seeking longer-term funding and the operations in the East and Adamawa Regions will be operating for much longer than 6 months.

Title: One(01) Food Security and Nutrition Project Coordinator to CAR Refugees-UNICEF

Duty Station: Bertoua

Purpose of the Role: The Project Coordinator will ensure quality implementation of the project in Bertoua in conformity with Plan Cameroon's strategic orientations and administrative norms. He/she will also ensure quality liaison at all levels, between beneficiaries,partners and Plan Cameroon.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Emergency Response Manager, the Project Coordinator will among many other tasks perform the following:

  • Under the direction of the Emergency Response Manager(ERM), the Project Manager will take full responsibility for the successful implementation of the project;
  • Ensure all staff involved in the project understands the newly updated National protocol for the management of acute malnutrition and the expectations of this project.
  • Ensure the implementing partners at local level(Health areas) understand and implement the newly updated National protocol for the management of acute malnutrition
  • Ensure systematic/correct supplies of foodstuffs in the distribution points, the respect of the distribution plans
  • Ensure the enrollment of children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women(PLW) in the SFP respects the standardized criteria
  • Ensure the water hygiene and sanitation(WaSH) component of the project is properly implemented.
  • Ensure comprehensive and consistent reports are issued from the Health Areas
  • Ensure appropriate WASH, health and nutrition education messages are delivered to mothers, Pregnant and Lactating Women(PLW) and other careers at the distribution sites and in the  community.
  • Prepare quality donor reports in internal reports in a timely manner.

Qualification and Experience

  • Hold a degree in social sciences, project management/program or equivalent
  • Have a high capacity of synthesis;
  • Have a great ability to work in team;
  • At least 2 years of experience in working for a reputable international hunamitarian or development organization
  • Be bilingual(English and French - both written and spoken)

Skills & Behaviours

  • Knowledge on the food assistance and nutrition sector including WFP, Unicef, WHO, Ministry of Public Health
  • Extensive knowledge of emergency nutrition work, design and implementation of feeding projects including monitoring and evaluation
  • Extensive knowledge of nutrition issues in the East, North and Far-North regions
  • Knowledge of humanitarian standard and codes of conduct
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in sponsorship and strong knowledge of project Management in particular and program activities in general
  • Proven capacity to facilitate trainings, coach staff and provide supportive supervision
  • Strong coordination skills in programming, resource management and safety and security.
  • Excellent in computer skills(Microsoft including word, excel,powerpoint, internet, etc.)
  • Mastery of survey software
  • Ability to work in emergency settings
  • Willingness to travel at short notice and be flexible to changing circumstances
