*Network Engineer in Douala, Cameroon* *ref: RSQ-NOD-201307001* *Roles and Responsibilities:* * Monitoring of all Network equipment and performance, generation of pro-active operation and maintenance plans, * Notifying Senior Technicians and the Manager of any problems occurring on the SATCOM telephony system, * Troubleshooting network outages by coordinating the efforts of the RF, Software and Network Engineers for all VSAT and related systems. * Document all network outages, calls, and solutions, in trouble ticket database. * Bookkeeping of all network outages and pending solutions. * Review trouble ticket status on a regular basis with the Technical Team. * Typical working hours daytime Monday through Friday. The Network Engineer shall coordinate the Technical efforts during a system outage. Familiarity with various software packages will be required. * Flexibility to work ad-hoc issues and projects. *Minimum Qualifications:* * Associate\'s degree or equivalent relevant experience * Significant technical experience in a satellite network environment. * Must be knowledgeable in TCP/IP protocols * Demonstrated experience in IT services delivery, hands on System Administration skills, and experience in performing routine IT asset management tasks (license management, license/maintenance renewal tracking, etc.) * Demonstrated experience in researching and evaluating alternative solutions and recommending the most efficient and cost effective system solution for business needs * Demonstrated experience with VSAT and broadband connectivity such as VPN, data satellite, firewalls and routers will be considered as a \"plus\". * Skills in some of the following technologies: Cisco, Linux/Unix, VLAN support, Oracle database management, VoIP and PSTN switching technologies (SS7 and E1 signaling) * Demonstrated ability to perform complex technical tasks and analysis. Capability of working independently as well as part of a team.
