Background of the contracting organization

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF, or the Foundation), a non-profit organization, is the world leader in the fight to eliminate pediatric AIDS. Its mission is to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eliminate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) has worked in Cameroon since 2000 through local and established international organizations and presently has an established office in Cameroon.  

Project: HIV Free Centre Project

Title of the Position: Agent Psychosocial /Psychosocial Agent(APS)

Responsibilities:

Under the responsibility and supervision of the Technical Officer of the HIV Free Centre, the psychosocial worker will have the following responsibilities

• Develop monthly work plan for psychosocial support activities in the health facility
• Develop and deliver health talks and conduct focus group discussions on psychosocial issues with the children and guidance
• Provide counseling services at the Facilities level of the Djoungolo Health District within the context of pre-test and post-test counseling
• Provide adherence counseling to support adherence to medications and retention in care and treatment of the children on ART
• Work in close collaboration with the clinical team to develop a psychosocial support plan that addresses the needs of each child and guidance
• Provide age appropriate counseling for disclosure, and support the child and family in the disclosure process
• Support the formation of age appropriate psychosocial support groups
• Support the functioning and reporting of the activities of the psychosocial support groups
• Support the use of age appropriate psychosocial support groups educational material (SOPs, Job aids, image boxes etc.)
• Attend coordination meetings with regards to the holistic care of the pediatric
• Carry out any other duty in relation to the project as requested by the Technical Officer

Required qualifications:

• Training: A minimum of A/L (Baccalaureat) and training in psychosocial support
• Experience: At least 03 years of professional experience as counselor or psychosocial support worker
• Skills: Excellent mastery of communication skills, technics and concepts in counseling and psychosocial support
• Language: Good mastery of French and English will be an added advantage

Duration of the contract: 05 months contract.
