The Africa Nova Center for Democracy is a local Ngo that is working to promote good governance and Democracy in Africa. This organization is looking for one project Assistant who will be based in Yaounde but will be carrying out activities in Bamenda as need be.
Position: Project Assistant
Position Summary
The Project Assistant is responsible for supporting a distinct portfolio of activities carried out in the organization. This include developing activity ideas, sourcing for funding opportunities, organize and implement activities on the field, supervise volunteers and coordinate with other stakeholders to carry out organizational activities. This position will be based in Yaounde with project activities extending to Bamenda.
Reporting and Supervision: The Project Assistant will report to the coordinator.
Primary Responsibility
Develop project activities in line with organizational strategic objectives
Coordinate and implement field activities, Youth volunteering to council, youth pledge project advocacy, African intellectual board etc
Support in project writing and follow up funds from donors
Present project activity to partners
Work closely with volunteers and IT
Update website and social media
Conduct political, social and economic analysis in the country and in Africa.
Write good articles on new developments in Africa
Summarize media news from local and international newspapers and magazines
Network other organization and partners
Assist the coordinator to build in magazine content, work closely with the IT
Any other duties and task as needed and assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
Two to three years university degree and a professional certificate in project management.
Two years of general work history and one-year experience working in an NGO
Ability to think out of the box
Ability to engage the community
Work with little or no supervision
Effective communication skills and networking abilities
Proficient at using Microsoft office software: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Experience in working on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter etc)
Written and spoken fluency in English and spoken fluency in French
