JOB ADVERT: CHAUFFEUR

The centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) office in Yaoundé is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Chauffeur, FSN-03; FP-BB.

This is a temporary position not to exceed 2 years from date of hire.

The closing date for this position is November 16, 2015.

This position is located in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the assistant director of operations, incumbent serves as chauffeur for CDC in Yaoundé. Duties include: driving vehicles within the city and vicinity and on long trips; checking vehicles condition before starting the work day or on each takeover of different vehicle; keeping vehicle operation record times and places of departure and arrival, mileage, gasoline and oil taken from the official pump or stock, or purchased on the road; keeping vehicle clean and presentable condition at all times; making minor repairs on vehicle as necessary and reporting other needed repairs; keeping vehicle ready for operation through checking barkers, steering, tires, oi, gasoline, water and battery.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

Education: completion of Elementary School (First school leaving certificates (FSLC) or equivalent) is required. 

Experience: a minimum of two years driving experience with a clean record, including driving on highways and rural roads in an international organization or large local institution, is required. 

Language: level II (good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required. Level III (good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing French is required. (This will be tested) 

skills/Ability: incumbent must pass the pre-employment eye examination. Incumbent is expected to be highly flexible in terms of being able to work during the week and weekends to cover mission requirements. He/she should be able to understand real and written instructions in English and French. A valid driver’s license category B is required. (This will be tested.) Knowledge: applicant must know Cameroonian traffic laws and have a good knowledge of the main cities streets. He/She must be able to make minor repairs on vehicles as necessary.
