POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT - 2 CONSULTANTS

BACKGROUND: The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA) invites appplications for the positions of two(02) Consultants for its Cameroon operations.

IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development(R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of tropical regions of the word, We work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa. POSITION I: Objectives of the consultancy N°1

To provide a broad overview of generic rural and human development characteristics of the households in the target Action Sites, infrastructure, and the institutional and policy contexts in which rural development is occuring.

To identify the stakeholders and institutions that are involved in the value chains of selected commodities and to characterize the marketing system fro these commodities at national and at the first administrative level below national(Cameroon)

POSITON II: Objectives for consultancy N°2

To provide an overview of the agricultural production systems in terms of importance, structure, technology and productivity. In addition some attention needs to be given to labour profiles and role at the production level. This information will be central in helping to identify the best bet agricultural interventions for the program to address.

To discuss the implications of the current production and marketing systems on natural resources and the environment.
